I love the story in this one. Technically, the patches of fog and the way you handled the ground plane is phenomenal.
I think it might not be an issue of color but tones. In foggy lighting conditions it seems that even the darkest areas have some atmosphere and transparency.

Nice work man!
I like your composition more than anything. What this image is lacking is contrast. I would probably also add a bit more color around your focal area.
